"No water, No life. No blue, No green." -Sylvia Earle
Everyone has a childhood ambition of becoming someone or doing a job that they find inspiring. As people choose careers depending on their interests, their future aspirations vary from person to person. I took a different path and decided to become a teacher, while the majority of individuals opt to become doctors, attorneys, pilots, engineers, etc. However, the focus of this essay will not be the work I have decided to do.
We all know that while we are young, we have a lot of desires in our brains and that it is simple for kids to change their dreams or aspirations in life just by daily exposure to other occupations. I am one of those kids who finds it difficult to make decisions about what I want to accomplish with my life or what job I will have in the future. We all aspire to admire those who inspire us.
My desire to become a sailor first grew when I was a young boy while watching television, especially the shows where the characters were always on a ship, sailing across the ocean. I had this eagerness when I was a child that I wanted to become like them by easily copying how they acted and how they dressed. I keep asking my mom to get me a toy ship so I can play with it, and I also keep asking her to get me a sailor man's clothing so I can imitate them.
For many reasons, I have the desire and dream to work as a seaman. I first wish to travel the world and hope to see beautiful locations and coastlines. Exploring different cultures around the world by traveling to another nation will be an achievement for me. I thought about becoming a seaman because living by the sea is like a dream to me. I like big ships, no matter if it is a cargo ship or a battleship; I just like to travel in them. I like being challenged, and I hate to sit in front of a computer screen for hours.
In conclusion, I am sure that's just an ambition. I am sad, but on the other hand, I am also happy because maybe this is the path that the Lord gave me, that is, to become a teacher. I am sure that I will succeed. All I focus on now is the path that I choose to pursue, which is to become a licensed professional teacher (LPT). I am close to achieving that goal and am about to cross the finish line.
